The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has officially released the CLAT notice 2026 for all the aspirants. The Common Law Admission Test, CLAT 2026 will be conducted on Sunday, December 7, 2025, in offline and pen-and-paper mode at different test centres in India. The registration process will start from August 1, 2025, and will run up to October 31, 2025.
CLAT 2026 is the national entrance test for entry into undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law courses of 24 participating NLUs. For UG, candidates should have passed Class 12 with 45% marks (40% for SC/ST). For PG, an LL.B degree with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) is mandatory.
The CLAT application fee is INR 4,000 in the case of General/OBC/PwD/NRI/OCI and INR 3,500 in the case of SC/ST/BPL candidates. Candidates who prefer to get a previous year question paper need to pay ₹500 additionally. The CLAT 2026 will assess aptitude, legal reasoning, and comprehension capabilities.

How to Register for CLAT 2026?
Candidates can follow the below listed steps to know how to apply for CLAT exam.
Registration: Interested candidates will have to register by providing their personal and academic details. Besides, they must select and confirm a password for their newly created account.
Login: After the registration process is completed, candidates must log in to access their application form.
Select the Program: After logging in, choose the program you wish to take this exam for i.e. 5-year LLB or 1-year LLB.
Fill the Application Form: There are various fields in the exam form such as personal information, communication details, qualifying examination status, exam center preferences (3 centers can be selected in the order of preference), and reservation.
Submit the Form: Once these exam details are completely filled, candidates must agree to the declaration and give their consent. After all this is done, candidates must submit the form.
Payment of Application Fee: This is the last step to fill CLAT 2026 Application Form. The payment of CLAT Application Fee must be done through online mode i.e. credit card, debit card or net banking. In addition to the exam fee, candidates will also be required to pay an additional amount of INR 500 if they wish to opt for previous years' question papers.
