CLAT stands for Common Law Admission Test. Students who want to study law can apply for the CLAT exam after completing their class 12 from any recognized board. Furthermore, students with a Bachelor's degree in LLB may apply for the CLAT exam to pursue a PG course in law at any of the 24 NLUs.

What is the official website of CLAT?
The official website of CLAT is consortiumofnlus.ac.in. CLAT applications are only accepted online through the official website. Aside from that, other CLAT exam-related procedures, such as the publication of CLAT results, merit lists, and counseling, are carried out on the CLAT official website.
CLAT Application Form
The NLU Consortium will start CLAT 2026 Registration Procedure soon on its official webiste. The CLAT Application Form is made available through online mode and students interested in taking the exam can fill the application form by following the link given here. To register for the exam, candidates must possess a valid email id and a phone number. While registering for the exam, candidates must fill the various fields such as Name, DOB, Upload Documents, Educational Details, etc. They must also select Exam Center and process the payment of application fee while filling the form.
How to Apply for CLAT Exam?
Below mentioned are the steps that students must follow to register themselves for the examination.
- Registration: Interested candidates will have to register by providing their personal and academic details. Besides, they must select and confirm a password for their newly created account.
- Login: After the registration process is completed, candidates must log in to access their application form.
- Select the Program: After logging in, choose the program you wish to take this exam for i.e. 5-year LLB or 1-year LLB.
- Fill the Application Form: There are various fields in the exam form such as personal information, communication details, qualifying examination status, exam center preferences (THREE centers can be selected in the order of preference), and reservation.
- Submit the Form: Once these exam details are completely filled, candidates must agree to the declaration and give their consent. After all this is done, candidates must submit the form.
- Payment of Application Fee: This is the last step to fill CLAT 2026 Application Form. The payment of CLAT Application Fee must be done through online mode i.e. credit card, debit card or net banking. In addition to the exam fee, candidates will also be required to pay an additional amount of INR 500 if they wish to opt for previous years' question papers.

CLAT 2026 Eligibility Criteria
As per the CLAT 2026 Eligibility defined by the Consortium of National Law Universities, the candidates with at least 45% marks in aggregate in their last qualifying examination will be considered eligible to take the national-level entrance examination. Besides, 5% relaxation in the qualifying marks will be given to candidates belonging to the reserved categories. There is no age limit to apply or appear in the CLAT Exam. NRIs, OCIs, PIOs & Foreign Nationals can alsoapply or appear for CLAT.

CLAT 2026 Merit List
Based on the results of the entrance exam, the exam officials will create and release the CLAT 2026 merit list. The CLAT merit list 2026 places candidates in order of their test scores. The tiebreaker, however, is employed to determine the merit rank when two or more candidates receive the same ranks.
CLAT Merit List 2026 - Tie-breaking procedure
In case there is a tie between two candidates, the following method is followed to break the tie.
- The candidate with the highest score in the "Legal Aptitude" segment of CLAT 2026 will be put higher in the merit list.
- If this step is taken, the candidate who is older will receive a higher rank.
- If the tie still persists, the merit rank of these applicants will be established by a computerized draw of lots.
CLAT 2026 Counselling
The counselling process of CLAT 2026 will be conducted in online mode on the official website of Consortium of NLUs; i.e. consortiumofnlus.ac. CLAT Counselling Registration 2026 will be done before the CLAT Counselling Process 2026 begins. Candidates who will be shortlisted for CLAT 2026 admission process will be asked to exercise their options to accept, revise or withdraw from the seat allotment process before the last date. CLAT Counselling Fee Refund
The CLAT counselling fee of INR 50,000 paid at the time of registration is refundable. However, candidates should keep in mind the below points:
- The fee will be fully refunded if candidates withdraw their seat before the last date
- A deduction of INR 10,000 to the total counselling fee will be done if candidates withdraw their seat after the last date
- If candidates are found ineligible during document verification then their admission will be cancelled. Such candidates will get refund INR 40,000 after deduction of processing charges.
