The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially released the tentative date sheets for the 2026 CBSE Class 10 and CBSE 12 board examinations, along with the second board exam for Class 10. The Class 10 examinations will be conducted between February 17, 2026, and March 9, 2026, whereas Class 12 exams will be held form 17th Feb to 9th April 2026 covering 204 subjects for nearly 45 lakh students across India and 26 countries abroad.
Exams to be Conducted
As per the notification (No.F.31/CBSE/SPPS/2025 dated September 24, 2025), the following exams will be held:
- Main Examinations for Classes X and XII
- Examinations for Sports Students – Class XII
- Second Board Examinations – Class X
- Supplementary Examinations – Class XII
The Board highlighted that, alongside the written exams, several other crucial activities such as practicals, evaluation, and post-result processes will also be undertaken to ensure the timely declaration of results.
Why Tentative Date Sheets?
CBSE clarified that these are tentative schedules, prepared based on registration data of Classes IX and XI for 2025. The final date sheet will be issued after schools submit the final list of candidates.
The Board listed the following expected benefits of releasing tentative schedules:
- Students can prepare structured study plans for improved performance.
- Schools can align their academic and administrative activities.
- Teachers can plan personal and vacation schedules in advance.

Evaluation Guidelines
Answer script evaluation will start 10 days after each subject exam and is expected to be completed within 12 days. For example, if the Class XII Physics exam is held on 20th February 2026, evaluation will begin on 3rd March 2026 and conclude by 15th March 2026.
