Aspirants seeking postgraduate medical admissions through NEET PG 2025 face a period of significant uncertainty. Delays persist in the national counselling schedule. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has yet to release its official timeline for admissions. Concurrently, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) cancelled results for 22 candidates. These cancellations occurred due to identified “unfair means” during the examination. Further concerns arise from alleged reports of an online data leak, where personal details of aspirants are reportedly for sale. The Supreme Court is now scheduled to hear a related case in late October , seeking to address some of these pressing issues.

National Counselling Process Faces Delays

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) remains silent on the NEET PG 2025 counselling schedule. This lack of information creates considerable anxiety for thousands of medical graduates. These graduates aim for postgraduate seats across India. The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) previously communicated an expectation. According to FAIMA’s discussions with the health ministry, counselling was projected to commence by mid-October . As of now, no official updates or confirmed dates have been released by the MCC or the central health authorities. This delay impacts the entire admission cycle for all-India quota seats in MD, MS, and DnB programmes.

Alleged Data Breach Impacts Aspirant Privacy

A significant privacy concern has emerged for NEET PG 2025 aspirants. Reports suggest that personal details belonging to these candidates are being sold online. This alleged data breach exposes sensitive information. Claims from some candidates and doctors indicate these details are available for purchase at a “meagre amount.” Such an incident raises serious questions about data security protocols. It also prompts worries among applicants regarding the protection of their private information during the admission process. Authorities have not yet issued a statement confirming or denying these allegations.

NBEMS Cancels Results Due to Misconduct

The integrity of the NEET PG examination process was challenged by recent findings. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) acted by cancelling the results of 22 candidates . This decision followed confirmed instances of “unfair means.” NBEMS detailed the reasons for these cancellations:

  • Results for 13 candidates were specifically cancelled due to their alleged involvement in cheating activities.
  • Candidature for one individual was removed. This removal occurred subsequent to an order issued by the Karnataka High Court.
  • Other affected candidates had their results nullified for broader engagement in unfair practices during the exam.

NBEMS states these measures reinforce its commitment to a fair and transparent evaluation system for all medical aspirants.

Supreme Court to Address NEET PG Issues

The Supreme Court of India is set to hear a crucial NEET PG case. This hearing is scheduled for late October . The judiciary’s involvement highlights the gravity of the current situation. It signals potential legal interventions to resolve the ongoing disputes and uncertainties. Aspirants await the outcome of this hearing. The Court’s directives could provide clarity on the counselling delays, data privacy concerns, and overall admission framework for 2025.

State Counselling Progresses in Some Regions

Despite the national delays, a positive development exists in several states. Multiple state authorities have already initiated their NEET PG state counselling processes for 2025-26 admissions. This allows for admissions to 50% state quota seats. These seats are available in MD, MS, and DnB programmes. Participating states include Telangana, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Kerala . Aspirants from these regions should actively monitor their specific state counselling websites. They must adhere to local deadlines and procedures for applying to government and private medical colleges within their respective states.
