About the Job
We are seeking a fluent English-speaking Debate/Legal Research Coach to train and guide 12-year-old students participating in competitive debate teams. This is a remote position focused on helping young debaters understand research methods, build strong cases, and improve overall debate skills.The students work on complex policy topics—for example:
1. Arguing the negative for any government shutdown
2. Arguing the negative for Congress being banned from stock trading
Your main responsibility is not only to assist with research but to teach them how to research effectively using credible sources and structured methods.
Key responsibilities:
1. Guide students in researching U.S. policy, government structures, and congressional reform topics.
2. Teach research techniques, source evaluation, and case-building methods.
3. Help create rebuttals, cross-examination questions, opening statements, and closing statements.
4. Support students in understanding and following the rules of their debate organization (NCFCA)
5. Provide constructive feedback to help them improve clarity, structure, and argument strength.
