About the Job

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Data Integration and API Engineer Intern to manage our crucial data consolidation projects. This role is essential for transforming siloed data into structured, easily accessible information. You will be responsible for designing and implementing processes to pull smaller datasets with varying schemas into a single, unified database. Crucially, you will then build and connect a RESTful API layer to ensure this consolidated data can be efficiently accessed by internal systems and applications.

This is a hands-on role perfect for someone who excels at data modeling, SQL, and backend development, and who wants to earn a potential Pre-Placement Offer (PPO) for a full-time role.

Key Responsibilities

1. The primary focus of this role is on data accessibility and integration:
2. Data Consolidation: Design and implement pipelines to ingest and unify diverse, smaller datasets (with different fields/schemas) into a designated central database.
3. Data Modeling: Design the optimal database schemas (relational or NoSQL) to store consolidated data efficiently for querying and serving.
4. API Development: Develop, test, and maintain robust, high-performance RESTful APIs to serve the consolidated data to various consumers.
5. ETL/ELT: Create and manage ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to clean, standardize, and prepare raw source data.
6. Optimization: Write efficient SQL queries and optimize database performance for low-latency API response times.
7. Collaboration: Work closely with backend and frontend teams to define API endpoints and ensure seamless data delivery.
8. Documentation: Maintain documentation for all data models, integration pipelines, and API endpoints.

Required Skills & Experience (Who Can Apply)

1. Candidates must demonstrate strong skills in data handling, database technology, and API development.
2. Educational Background: Graduate or Postgraduate in Computer Science, IT, Data Engineering, or a related field.
3. Technical Experience: 1+ year of experience (academic projects/personal portfolio accepted) in data modeling, database management, or backend development.

Must-Have Skills:

1. Expert Proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).
2. Strong programming skills in Python (or Java/Scala) for data ingestion and API logic.
3. Familiarity with building and documenting RESTful APIs using frameworks (e.g., Python Flask/Django/FastAPI).
4. Practical experience in designing schemas and consolidating heterogeneous datasets.
5. Solid understanding of ETL principles and data cleaning techniques.
6. Foundational Knowledge: Understanding of database indexing, query optimization, and basic data security best practices.
7. Analytical Skills: Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving ability in the context of data integration.
8. Remote Work: Self-driven and able to work independently in a remote/WFH environment.
