About the Job

Work with business laptops (Dell/HP/Lenovo) and occasional desktops/convertibles. 
Diagnose complex faults and perform board-level and module repairs. 
Fit OEM FRUs, validate performance, and document all steps. 
Enjoy micro soldering, schematic reading, firmware/BIOS work, and detailed documentation.

Role Summary
Own advanced diagnostics and repairs for business laptops. 
Perform chip-level and motherboard repairs, source and fit OEM parts. 
Run validation and benchmarking; provide clean handoffs to asset fleet. 
Comfort with micro-soldering, hot-air, schematics, firmware/BIOS, and strong documentation. 

Key Responsibilities
1. Triage & intake: Visual inspection, POST, firmware/UEFI checks, baseline OS/hardware health. 
2. Advanced diagnostics: Multimeter, thermal camera/logging, power analyzer, vendor diagnostic suites. 
3. Chip-level motherboard repair: Component-level diagnostics and repairs (BGA reflow, SMD replacements, micro-soldering, connector/flex repair). 
4. FRU replacements: System-board swaps, battery, SSD, RAM, keyboard, hinge, fan replacements; ensure thermal module matching. 
5. Software/firmware tasks: Reflash/update BIOS/firmware, program service tag/embedded keys, clean OS image + drivers, Windows activation/licensing. 
6. Testing & validation: Run benchmarks (Geekbench, Cinebench, PCMark, Speedometer), thermal throttling loops, SSD throughput, Wi-Fi battery tests. 
7. Documentation & traceability: Maintain detailed repair logs including symptoms, tests, part numbers, labor steps, test results, root cause analysis, and photos. 
8. Inventory & procurement liaison: Raise accurate BOMs, validate FRU part numbers, flag long lead parts, coordinate with procurement/vendor channels. 
9. Quality & process improvement: Propose and implement test scripts, QA checklists, process changes to increase first-time-fix and reduce TAT. 
10. Client & internal support: Provide technical support to ops/procurement/QA; explain repair decisions to stakeholders. 
11. Mentoring & training: Train/mentor L1 technicians; participate in internal training sessions. 
12. Safety & compliance: Enforce ESD mats, battery handling protocols, safe soldering practices, proper disposal/recycling. 

Nice-to-have / Differentiators
1. Experience scaling refurb programs or remanufacturing environments. 
2. Familiarity with OEM FRU catalogs, part number mapping, supplier networks in India. 
3. Battery endurance testing protocols and Notebookcheck-style battery workflows. 
4. Warranty/RMA processing and supplier escalations. 
5. Root-cause analysis and post-repair RCA notes. 
6. Understanding hardware impact on on-device AI/NPU features. 

KPIs / Success Metrics
1. First-time-fix rate for Level 2 scope (%) 
2. Mean time to repair (MTTR) and average TAT per ticket 
3. Post-repair QA pass rate (%) 
4. Parts cost vs BOM estimate variance (%) 
5. Repeat failure/warranty return rate (%) 
6. Documentation completeness & ticket closure quality 

Tools, Equipment & Software
1. Hardware: Hot-air rework station, soldering iron, microscope/loupe, multimeter, bench power supply, thermal camera, ESD mats, battery testers, USB-C PD analyzer. 
2. Software: Vendor diagnostic suites (Dell/HP/Lenovo), imaging tools (Windows PE, MDT), benchmarking tools (Geekbench, Cinebench, PCMark, Speedometer), SSD health utilities, ticketing/asset management tools.
