The steps of the NEET PG counselling process are as follows:
- Registration: After the portal opens, students must register for the counselling process of the NEET PG examination through the official NEET website. Doing so will ensure students are eligible for the next step of the counselling process.
- Choice-Filling: After students have completed their registration process for the NEET PG examination, they must choose their colleges and courses. All choices by students must be made in order of preference. While students can choose as many colleges/courses as they’d like, the relevant authorities will only consider choices in order of preference.
- Evaluation:After the choices and registration forms will be filled, all students will be evaluated. Evaluation for the seats for NEET PG is done on the basis of availability of seats, total students applying, students’ score and reservations amongst other factors as well. Once evaluation is done, the results will be declared.
- Seat Allotment Results: The seat allotment results for NEET PG will be declared which consists of lists of the students and their allotted colleges. If students are happy with their allotted college, they can continue to the final forms of evaluation. NEET PG Counselling Rounds Explained
There are main types of rounds in the NEET PG counselling process. These include the main rounds, the mop-up round and the stray vacancy round. Provided below is a brief overview of each of these crucial rounds of the NEET PG counselling process.
The counselling rounds are as follows:
- Main Rounds:These consist of 2 rounds of counselling for NEET PG. All students who clear the actual NEET PG examination can register and sit for these rounds of counselling. The first round requires registration and helps students get admission into all colleges participating in the counselling process.
If students are not satisfied with their allotted seats in the first round, they can participate in the second main round. Seats are provided on the basis of a student's performance on the NEET PG exam, the overall availability of seats and a student’s preference of college.
- Mop-Up Round:This round is mainly for helping fill-up any remaining seats from the main rounds of counselling for the NEET PG exam. Only those students who did not receive a seat in the main rounds of counselling or registered for this round completely fresh can participate in the mop-up round. The seats of this round are not consistent as its main goal is to fill any remaining seats in colleges participating in the NEET PG counselling process.
- Stray-Vacancy Round: This is a final round intended to fill-up any remaining seats from the mop-up round. No new students can register for this round of seat allotment. Only students who were not allotted seats in the mop-up round can participate in this round of seat allotment.
