The National Testing Agency (NTA) is conducting the UGC NET 2025 exam today, January 6, 2026. This marks the fifth day of the nationwide examination. Today, candidates are appearing for tests in 16 different subjects. The exam is being held in a Computer Based Test (CBT) format. It is very important for all students taking the exam to carry their official UGC NET admit card and a valid photo identification card. Without these two key documents, students will not be allowed to enter the exam center. This exam helps determine who is eligible for Assistant Professor posts or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian universities and colleges.

It contains important details like your name, roll number, exam center, and subject. Without this admit card, entry will be denied completely, no exceptions. Additionally, candidates must bring at least one original photo identification (ID) card. This ID is used to verify that the person taking the exam is indeed the registered candidate. Accepted photo IDs include an Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, Passport, or Driving License. Make sure your photo on the ID is clear and matches your appearance.
UGC NET Exam Dress Code Guidelines
While the National Testing Agency did not issue a new, specific dress code for the UGC NET December 2025 session, it is wise for candidates to follow general guidelines. These rules are put in place to ensure fairness and prevent any unfair means during the exam. Following these simple dress code rules helps you avoid delays and issues at the security check. Remember that security personnel will check these things before you enter the examination hall.
- Choose simple and light clothing. Avoid clothes that have any metal items or accessories, such as large buttons, zips, or brooches.
- Do not wear elaborate outfits. This means no clothes with many pockets or heavy designs and embroidery. Simple t-shirts, shirts, or kurtis are usually best.
- Footwear should be simple. Avoid shoes with thick soles as they might need to be checked thoroughly. Slippers or open-toe sandals are generally permitted and recommended.
- Do not wear any jewellery. This includes rings, chains, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, nose pins, or anklets.
- Strictly avoid bringing or wearing any electronic accessories. This means no smartwatches, fitness bands, headphones, or any other electronic gadgets.
Candidates are advised to arrive at their exam center well before the reporting time. This allows enough time for security checks and document verification without rushing. Following all these instructions will ensure a smooth and stress-free experience on your exam day.
