Padma Bhushan 2025 Awarded to Vinod Dham, DTU Alumnus and Father of the Pentium Chip

The Government of India presented Vinod Dham, the Father of the Pentium Chip and a notable DTU alumnus, with the Padma Bhushan during the Padma Awards. President Droupadi Murmu gave him the honor at Rashtrapati Bhawan. The entire DCE-DTU group is extremely proud of this recognition.

The Vinod Dham Centre of Excellence to Drive Innovation in Semiconductors and Microelectronics was recently opened at Delhi Technological University by Vinod Dham, a strong proponent of innovation's transformational power and India's potential as a worldwide semiconductor hub. The center, which is generously sponsored by Dham, is committed to developing talented individuals and giving students new opportunities in the semiconductor and microelectronics industries. His innovative contributions are still motivating.

'Wisdom on Wheels' with PayTm, a program to promote digital literacy by providing a mobile education unit with computers and instructional materials, was launched at the DTU-hosted event. Undergraduate, graduate, and Phd students at DTU will be able to use the platform to mentor and intern in digital education initiatives.

Pradhan emphasized DTU's potential and urged its departments to launch 25 new courses in the next two years, with an emphasis on applied sciences, digital competency, 3D printing, and training for globally recognized skills. He underlined the importance of engineering schools like DTU in promoting industrial partnerships and educating students for the digital economy.

He talked strongly on the day of the inauguration about the revolutionary potential of invention and India's enormous potential to lead the world in semiconductors. He praised ambitious projects like the India Semiconductor Mission and emphasized that semiconductors constitute the backbone of modern society.
