The National Medical Commission (NMC) has increased MBBS seats for the NEET UG 2025-26 academic year. India now offers a total of 1,26,600 MBBS seats , as reported on October 10, 2025 . This update includes the approval of 9,075 new MBBS seats across various colleges.
The NMC revised the NEET UG seat matrix multiple times this year. In September, the commission added 6,850 seats and removed 1,056 seats due to approval and court matters. Ten days later, the NMC approved 7,375 new seats, while reducing 456 others. These adjustments followed the Cabinet’s approval of 10,000 medical seats under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme’s third phase expansion.
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) extended the NEET UG Round 3 choice filling deadline. Candidates must submit their preferred choices by October 13 on the official website, mcc.nic.in.
