Students preparing for JEE Main 2026 can find important details about Physics questions that often appear in the exam. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will hold the JEE Main Session 1 exam from January 21 to 30, 2026 . Experts have studied past papers and identified Physics topics and question types that are frequently repeated. Focusing on these common questions can help students score higher marks. Practicing these questions helps students prepare smartly, showing them which topics are key for the Physics section and improving their speed and accuracy.

Key Physics Topics to Practice

Based on previous JEE Main exams, some Physics concepts are repeated often. Practicing questions from these areas is highly recommended.

Gauss' Law

Questions on Gauss' Law frequently appear in the JEE Main Physics paper. Here are two examples from recent exams:

  • Question (JEE Main 2023, April 12, Morning Shift): Assertion A: If an electric dipole of dipole moment 30 × 10⁻⁵ C is enclosed by a closed surface, the net flux coming out of the surface will be zero. Reason R: Electric dipole consists of two equal and opposite charges. (A) A is true but R is false (B) A is false but R is true (C) Both A and R are true but R is NOT the correct explanation of A (D) Both A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A

  • Question (JEE Main 2024, February 1, Evening Shift): C1 and C2 are two hollow concentric cubes enclosing charges 2Q and 3Q respectively as shown in figure. The ratio of electric flux passing through C1 and C2 is: (A) 3 : 2 (B) 5 : 2 (C) 2 : 5 (D) 2 : 3

Combination of Resistors

Problems involving the combination of resistors are another common topic. Practice these to understand how resistance changes in different arrangements.

  • Question (JEE Main 2025, January 28, Morning Shift): A wire of resistance R is bent into an equilateral triangle and an identical wire is bent into a square. The ratio of resistance between the two end points of an edge of the triangle to that of the square is: (a) 8/9 (b) 9/8 (c) 32/27 (d) 27/32

  • Question (JEE Main 2024, January 30, Evening Shift): Two resistance of 100Ω and 200Ω are connected in series with a battery of 4 V and negligible internal resistance. A voltmeter is used to measure voltage across 100Ω resistance, which gives reading as 1 V. The resistance of voltmeter must be ______ Ω.

Moving Coil Galvanometer

Questions related to moving coil galvanometers and shunts are regularly featured. Understand their working and calculations.

  • Question (JEE Main 2024, February 1, Evening Shift): In an ammeter, 5% of the main current passes through the galvanometer. If resistance of the galvanometer is G, the resistance of ammeter will be: (A) 199 G (B) 200 G (C) G/20 (D) G/199

  • Question (JEE Main 2023, April 13, Morning Shift): When a resistance of 5 Ω is shunted with a moving coil galvanometer, it shows a full scale deflection for a current of 250 mA, however when 1050 Ω resistance is connected with it in series, it gives full scale deflection for 25 volt. The resistance of galvanometer is Ω.

Dimensions

Dimensional analysis is a fundamental topic often tested. Be thorough with the dimensions of various physical quantities.

  • Question (JEE Main 2025, January 23, Evening Shift): Match List I with List II: List-I: A. Permeability of free, B. Magnetic field, C. Magnetic moment, D. Torsional constant. List-II: I. [ML²T⁻²], II. [MT⁻²A⁻¹], III. [MLT⁻²A⁻²], IV. [L²A]. Choose the correct answer from the options given below: (a) (A)-(III), (B)-(II), (C)-(IV), (D)-(I) (b) (A)-(I), (B)-(IV), (C)-(II), (D)-(III) (c) (A)-(II), (B)-(I), (C)-(III), (D)-(IV) (d) (A)-(IV), (B)-(III), (C)-(I), (D)-(II)

  • Question (JEE Main 2025, January 23, Morning Shift): The position of a particle moving on the x-axis is given by x(t) = A sint + B cos²t + Ct² + D, where t is time. The dimension of ABC/D is (a) L (b) L³T⁻² (c) L²T⁻² (d) L²

Graphical Analysis

Understanding graphs in Physics, like velocity-time or acceleration-time graphs, is essential for several questions.

  • Question (JEE Main 2023, April 8, Evening Shift): Statement I: Area under velocity- time graph gives the distance travelled by the body in a given time. Statement II: Area under acceleration- time graph is equal to the change in velocity- in the given time. (a) Both Statement I and Statement II are False. (b) Both Statement I and Statement II are true. (c) Statement I is incorrect but Statement II is true. (d)Statement I is correct but Statement II is false.

Young's Double-Slit Experiment

Optics, especially interference patterns from Young's Double-Slit Experiment, is another key area.

  • Question (JEE Main 2024, April 4, Evening Shift): The width of one of the two slits in a Young's double slit experiment is 4 times that of the other slit. The ratio of the maximum of the minimum intensity in the interference pattern is: (A) 1:1 (B) 4:1 (C) 16:1 (D) 9:1

By studying and practicing these questions from previous JEE Main exams, students can get a good idea of what to expect in the Physics section of JEE Main 2026 Session 1.
