IIT Madras has started "AI for All 2.0", free AI courses for school teachers in India. These online courses are open to all teachers from kindergarten up to 12th grade. You can take them on SWAYAM Plus, the Ministry of Education’s platform. They’ve teamed up with IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation for this.
There were already five courses before, like AI in Physics, AI in Chemistry, AI in Accounting, Cricket Analytics using AI, and AI/ML with Python. Now, they’ve added one more called “AI for Educators,” aimed at K–12 teachers. You can see the details below:
- AI for Educators: This covers AI knowledge, tools, and strategies to enhance teaching and engagement for K-12 and aspiring teachers.
- AI in Physics: Applies ML and neural networks to real-world physics problems for UG/PG students & faculty.
- AI in Chemistry: For UG/PG students & faculty.
- AI in Accounting: For commerce & management learners.
- Cricket Analytics with AI: For UG/PG students & faculty.
- AI/ML using Python.
Each course runs between 25 to 45 hours and they are free to join. If you want a certificate, you can take a proctored exam for a small fee at a testing center.
These courses are built for everyone, not just engineering students. Teachers or anyone from arts, science, commerce, or other streams can join as long as you’re comfortable using a computer.
Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director at IIT Madras, launched the programme on campus and stressed that K–12 teachers are key to bringing AI into classrooms. He said giving teachers these AI skills strengthens education and helps build the nation.
Prof. R. Sarathi, IIT’s SWAYAM Plus Coordinator, added that you don’t need any coding or AI background, just basic digital skills and willingness to learn. The courses follow the National Credit Framework and include hands-on work, real datasets, and case studies.
The last day to sign up for any of these six courses is October 10, 2025.
