IIM Calcutta Achieves 100% Final Placements for 60th MBA Batch: 538 Offers Made
IIM Calcutta has successfully completed final placements for its 60th MBA batch, with 100% placements. A total of 456 students participated in the process and received 538 job offers from 196 companies.
This year’s recruitment came from various sectors, with both large organisations as well as new-age companies taking part. The lucrative placements signify IIM Calcutta’s brand name and the quality of talent nurtured by the school.
Key Highlights of the 60th MBA Batch Placements at IIM Calcutta 2025
Total no. of Students: 456 students participated
Total job offers received: 538 job offers.
Top Sector: 37.3% of offers were for work in the consulting field (Top recruiters: BCG, Accenture Strategy, McKinsey & Kearney).
Finance: 114 offers: Investment Banking, Private Equity, and Venture Capital
Technology: 78 of them (14.5%) were made by companies such as Google, Microsoft, and Ola
Marketing & General Management: 145 offers (27%) were made by Tata, Aditya Birla, Zomato, Vedant, etc.
The recruiter new in the block was DBS Bank, Nykaa, Policybazaar, and Lava International
Pre-Placement Offers: Global firms were more interested in pre-placement offering.
List of Top Recruiters, Sector-wise Placement Overview
Consulting continued to dominate the placements at the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIMC), with graduates having received 201 (37.3 percent) offers. In management consulting, Boston Consulting Group (BCG) was the most common recruiter; Accenture Strategy for strategy consulting. Similar firms with hundreds of B-School hires were McKinsey, Kearney, Alvarez & Marsal, Arthur D. Little, Auctus Advisors, EY-Parthenon, Monitor Deloitte, TCS, KPMG, PwC, and Vector Consulting.
Payments and cards also played a prominent role in hiring, with American Express being the number one recruiter in this segment, followed by card payments giant Mastercard. This indicates the growing demand for IIM Calcutta graduates in finance and fintech.
Very Strong Activity from Investment Banking, Private Equity, and Venture Capital
Investment Banking, Private Equity, and Venture Capital were some of the sectors in the financial industry that had a strong demand this year. Offers from top firms such as: Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, Citi, Barclays, UBS, HSBC, BNP Paribas, Moelis, Elevation Capital, DE Shaw, and Claypond Capital contributed to a total of 114 (21%) offers in these fields.
The interest in IIM Calcutta graduates is also a continuing testament to the institute's pedigree of producing professionals who are custom-built for cutthroat roles, especially in finance.
Strong Interest in Technology Sector as 78 Offers Made
The technology sector formed a major chunk of this year’s placements , with 78 offers (14.5%) made to students. Some of the top recruiters that attended were Google, Microsoft, Navi, Infosys Global, HiLabs, ThoughtSpot, Ola, Browserstack, UKG, Optum, and ITC Infotech.
The rise of such familiar names emphasizes the increasing demand for management professionals with superior technology and innovation skills.
Marketing and General Management Flexible Positions Across Major Companies
These included 145 offers (27%) for Marketing and General Management roles from companies such as Tata Administrative Services, Aditya Birla Group, GMR, Zomato, Vedanta, Coca-Cola, Dabur, Airtel, and Mankind Pharma.
It also explains the vast number of career prospects IIM Calcutta graduates have in top global corporations.
Notable names among first-time recruiters that took part in placements this year included DBS Bank, Welspun, Nykaa, Lava International, and Policybazaar. The interest of recruiters speaks to the versatility that IIM Calcutta graduates possess, enabling them to adapt themselves to the changing times and challenges we face.
They also had extended several pre-placement offers (PPOs) before the placement process began formally. This not only highlights the high demand of the IIM Calcutta talent pools, but also the institute's association with contenders at the top echelon of the global recruiters.
Key to Success: Strong Alumni Support and a Cluster-Cohort System
A major reason behind the successful placement this year was IIM Calcutta's strong alumni network. Alumni played supportive roles in helping “students get jobs as we had studied their institute,” illustrating the permanent impact of the education and networking received from the institute.
The cluster-cohort system, with its policies such as the “dream, hold, and wait” system, also served to even out the playing field and make the placement process more efficient. By adopting this method, students were better matched with companies, it ensured transparency, and maximized placements.
