India's healthcare sector is on the verge of a revolution with a new global leadership program set to transform the future of healthcare in India. Sorbonne Business School, XLRI, and Emeritus have partnered to introduce the Global Healthcare Leadership for CXOs program. The 8-month-long program has been specifically crafted to make senior healthcare professionals, policymakers, and entrepreneurs more effective leaders in the rapidly changing healthcare sector.

This is Sorbonne Business School's first entry, that of a French school, one of the oldest and most prestigious in France, into a program in India. The Sorbonne, which began life in 1956 as a branch of the venerable University of Paris, has headed the international education movement and enjoys ties with more than 50 Nobel Laureates. XLRI, India's number one management school known for producing incubators for business leaders, is also a partner institution in this innovative arrangement, along with Emeritus, a global leader in online education.

India faces a severe healthcare workforce deficit with just 1.7 nurses for every 1,000 individuals and a single doctor serving every 1,500 patients, as estimated by a 2024 IBEF report. The program bridges this deficit by producing sound health leadership. The program aims to assist healthcare leaders in directing people, operations, new technologies, and wise policy-making decisions.

The program provides live online classes by XLRI and Sorbonne Business School's best faculty. Two 9-day campus residencies at XLRI for experiential learning and networking are also included. Crisis management, crisis communication, and developing healthcare organizations to be more resilient are the focus areas. Participants will also create a real-world capstone project and become Executive Alumni of XLRI for future career guidance.

Avnish Singhal, Executive Vice President at Emeritus, said, “Healthcare is changing fast. This program will help leaders manage change and succeed in this complex industry.”

XLRI’s Professor Santosh Sangem added, “We’re preparing future healthcare leaders with the right skills to face today’s and tomorrow’s challenges.”

Professor Jorge Cardoso from Sorbonne Business School emphasized, “Healthcare needs global thinkers who can take strong action. This program will help leaders make a real difference.”

The curriculum is based on a broad field of topics that include corporate governance, stakeholder management, telemedicine, data analytics, and medical technology. It incorporates global expertise and experiential learning to enable participants to establish trust, make strategic decisions, and encourage innovation in healthcare.

On completion of the program successfully, all participants will be awarded a certificate by Sorbonne Business School (63rd QS World University Rankings 2025) and XLRI (9th NIRF 2024). The program is a great learning experience for healthcare CXOs to equip themselves with stronger leadership skills and enable the establishment of a healthy, sustainable Indian healthcare ecosystem.
