Bihar's teacher recruitment drive, known as TRE-4, has become a major political issue. The state government recently reduced the number of teaching jobs available under this exam. This decision has sparked widespread protests from thousands of students and job seekers across Bihar. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has strongly criticized the current NDA government, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar , accusing them of breaking promises to young people.

Teacher Job Cuts Lead to Anger

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) conducts the Teacher Recruitment Exam (TRE). For the upcoming TRE-4, the government had first announced plans for 1 lakh 27 thousand teaching posts in March. However, these vacancies have now been significantly reduced by one lakh posts . This means many fewer jobs are available than initially promised.

This reduction comes as Bihar already faces a high unemployment rate, which is over 7 percent , especially among college graduates. Many young people rely on these government job opportunities.

Tejashwi Yadav Blames Government

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to speak out against the government. He reminded people that during his party's 17-month time in power, over 2 lakh teachers were successfully appointed through TRE-1 and TRE-2. He stated that these recruitments happened smoothly, without any paper leaks, and plans for another 1 lakh 30 thousand posts were started.

Yadav criticized Chief Minister Nitish Kumar , saying the Chief Minister often changes his mind and breaks promises. He vowed that if the RJD government is formed again, the TRE-4 recruitment process will start immediately without delay.

Students Protest Across Bihar

The cut in TRE-4 vacancies has led to strong reactions from students and job aspirants. Thousands of them have come out to protest in various cities, including the state capital, Patna . They are demanding that the government be fair and transparent in the recruitment process and fill all the promised posts quickly.

Many students are also using social media to share their anger. They are using slogans like “TRE-4 bhagao” to highlight their demands. One user tagged Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, asking, “Where’s that tweet promising swift TRE-4? Elections are here, vacancies aren’t!” Another commented, “Jobs, not promises, will decide Bihar’s future this time.”

Concerns About Other Exams

Adding to the students' concerns, the state government also announced that the Bihar State Eligibility Test (STET) 2025 will be held on October 14 . Many aspirants complain that having important exams scheduled close together and the delay in TRE-4 show that the Nitish government is not managing things well.

Political Stakes for 2025 Elections

With the 2025 Assembly elections approaching, the issue of teacher recruitment has become a key point of political debate. Bihar has around 15 million young voters , many of whom hope to become teachers. The way the government handles the TRE-4 situation could greatly affect how these young voters cast their ballots.

RJD leaders' statements and promises are seen as an attempt to gain support from these young voters. The ongoing protests and public anger highlight the importance of job opportunities for the youth in Bihar and how it will shape the upcoming elections.
