About the Forbes India AI Leaders 2025 List
Forbes India, in partnership with Accel, created this initiative to recognize and celebrate 30 innovators who are changing the game around AI and its applications in and outside of India. The candidates were selected from five categories:
- Startups
- Research & Academia
- Industry
- Global Indians
- Government & Policy
When assessing the candidates, innovation that was disruptive, the ability to scale beyond enterprise, influence policies on a national or international level, and the ability to engage with global audiences were all important components of the evaluation, as all have the same ultimate purpose of making large-scale, meaningful change using AI.
As artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming economies and reshaping the future of work, India has become a significant player in the global AI ecosystem. Accordingly, Forbes India and Accel have established a new initiative—‘30 Indian minds leading the AI revolution’—a curated, non-ranked list that recognizes people whose work is pushing the envelope in AI innovation.
The selection process was tough and collaborative. The selection started with a full longlist put together by the leadership from Forbes India editorial and Accel's experts in the area, followed by research and shortlisting across five categories: Startups, research & academia, industry, global Indians, government & policy. Different evaluation criteria included disruptive innovation, global recognition, enterprise-level implementation, and influence on policy. The one constant theme: Large-scale impact.
