About the Internship
We are looking for a detail-oriented and creatively driven video editing intern to help craft high-quality, documentary-style videos for our long-form YouTube content. This role focuses on transforming well-researched scripts into immersive, cinematic narratives using strong pacing, visual storytelling, and thoughtful editing.You’ll primarily work on long-form documentary videos inspired by channels like Fern and Black Files, helping shape raw research and footage into compelling, story-driven experiences.
Selected intern’s day-to-day responsibilities include:
1. Editing and assembling long-form documentary videos (8–25 minutes) based on provided scripts, research, and visuals.
2. Shaping narratives using pacing, tension, and visual rhythm to maintain viewer engagement throughout the video.
3. Working with AI-generated visuals (Google Veo 3.1/Kling) and curated stock footage to build cohesive cinematic sequences.
4. Syncing voiceovers with visuals precisely, ensuring emotional beats and narrative flow feel intentional and immersive.
5. Enhancing storytelling using subtle sound design, background music, ambient effects, and minimal but effective motion graphics or text overlays.
6. Editing content in a way that feels investigative, atmospheric, and intelligent, rather than flashy or clickbait.
7. Collaborating with the research and scripting team to interpret creative intent and translate it visually.
8. Creating supporting visual assets such as intro sequences, transitions, and chapter breaks when required.
9. Maintaining a consistent visual identity across all long-form videos.
10. Reviewing analytics and viewer retention insights, when provided, to refine pacing and storytelling techniques.
11. Occasionally assisting with repurposing long-form content into short, high-impact promotional clips.
12. Following a documentary-style content approach inspired by Fern, Black Files, and Lemmino.
13. Focusing on mystery, psychology, history, unexplained events, and real-world investigations.
14. Prioritizing cinematic pacing over fast cuts.
