About the Internship
The Social Worker will be a crucial frontline member of the Saarthi team, responsible for directly engaging with our beneficiary communities. This role involves needs assessment, implementing welfare and development programs, providing counseling and support, and acting as a bridge between the NGO's resources and the people we serve, particularly in areas related to human welfare, education, and disaster preparedness.Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:
A. Community Engagement and Outreach:
1. Conduct regular field visits to project sites and communities in and around Dehradun to establish trust and rapport.
2. Identify and register eligible beneficiaries for various Saarthi programs such as educational support, welfare schemes, and disaster relief.
3. Facilitate and organize community meetings, workshops, and awareness campaigns on topics like hygiene, education, environmental conservation, and disaster preparedness.
B. Case Management and Support:
1. Perform comprehensive needs assessments for individuals and families facing social, economic, or educational challenges.
2. Develop and implement individualized intervention plans, providing direct counseling, referrals, and linkages to essential services such as government schemes, healthcare, and legal aid.
3. Follow up on cases to monitor progress and adjust intervention strategies as necessary.
C. Program Implementation:
1. Assist in the execution of Saarthi’s core projects, including initiatives under Human Welfare, Education, and Disaster Management.
2. Coordinate logistics for program activities such as distribution drives for relief materials and educational kits, and skill-building workshops.
D. Documentation and Reporting:
1. Maintain accurate and confidential records of all case files, interventions, and community interactions.
2. Collect qualitative and quantitative data for program monitoring, evaluation, and reporting to the Program Manager.
3. Prepare timely progress reports documenting successes, challenges, and lessons learned from fieldwork.
E. Advocacy and Networking:
1. Advocate for the rights and needs of beneficiaries at local administrative levels.
2. Liaise and collaborate with local government officials such as Panchayats and Block Development Officers, other NGOs, and community leaders to leverage resources and avoid duplication of efforts.
Preferred:
1. Strong understanding of the socio-economic context and community issues in Uttarakhand/Dehradun.
2. Experience in a specific area relevant to Saarthi's work (e.g., disaster relief, education projects, counseling).
3. Knowledge of government welfare schemes and entitlements in Uttarakhand.
