About the Internship
We’re looking for a hands-on product design/mechanical engineering intern to help design precision mechanical parts and assemblies used in small-scale mechanical systems. You’ll work on designing components like gears, linkages, rotating assemblies, and contribute to the system design of a specialized motion desk. This is a remote internship with a flexible 1–3 month duration.Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:
1. 3D Modeling: Use SolidWorks (required) and Fusion 360 (nice to have) to build 3D models of mechanical parts.
2. Mechanism Design: Design components like rack-and-pinion gears, small levers, hinges, joints, and rotating assemblies that fit together and move smoothly.
3. Precision detailing: Ensure all parts meet tight tolerances for smooth motion and accurate fit. Pay attention to dimensions and mechanical clearances.
4. File preparation: Deliver all designs as STEP files and detailed CAD models for easy manufacturing or 3D printing.
5. Optional rendering: (If familiar) Create realistic visual renders of your designs using KeyShot or similar rendering software.
