About the Internship
Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:A. Module 1: Retail landscape & competitor analysis (offline):
1. Conduct in-person visits to a predefined list of retail outlets in Pune (e.g., gourmet stores, premium supermarkets, organic food stores).
2. Map the availability, placement, and visibility of competitor brands in the healthy snacks category (makhana, snack bars, trail mixes, etc.).
3. Analyze in-store promotional activities, pricing, and discount schemes.
4. Engage with store managers/owners to understand procurement models (direct from brand vs. distributor), replenishment cycles, and best-selling products.
B. Module 2: Digital shelf & e-commerce analysis (online):
1. Analyze the presence of key competitors on major e-commerce platforms (Amazon, BigBasket, Blinkit, Zepto, etc.)
2. Create a detailed report on online pricing strategies, promotional trends (e.g., "Buy One Get One," subscription discounts), and combo offers.
3. Study product listings, packaging imagery, customer reviews, and communication strategies used by top brands on their product pages.
C. Module 3: Consumer behavior & purchase insights:
1. Conduct observational studies in-store to understand how consumers browse the snack aisle and what influences their purchase decisions (e.g., packaging, brand name, price, health claims).
2. Perform short, informal intercept surveys with consumers post-purchase to understand their expectations and the "why" behind their choice.
3. Analyze online customer reviews to identify key satisfaction drivers and pain points.
D. Module 4: Brand communication & marketing ecosystem:
1. Study the complete marketing mix of key competitor brands.
2. Analyze their social media presence (Instagram, Facebook, etc), content strategy, and engagement levels.
3. Identify key food and wellness influencers they collaborate with.
4. Deconstruct their product packaging: what messages are they conveying? How do they communicate "healthy" and "premium"?
E. Final deliverable:
The intern will be expected to consolidate all findings into a final project report and presentation, covering:
1. A detailed competitor matrix (products, pricing, placement, and promotions).
2. An analysis of prevailing distribution models in the premium category.
3. Actionable insights on consumer purchase behavior and expectations.
4. A summary of effective branding and social media strategies in the sector.
5. Strategic recommendations for our brand's Go-to-Market plan.
