About the Internship
We’re looking for a Three.js engineer to own this canvas: how it looks, feels, and performs.Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilites include:
1. Build and maintain our interactive solar design canvas in Three.js (and supporting frameworks).
2. Implement 2D/3D rooftop and terrain visualization – camera controls, orbit/pan/zoom, snapping, selection, and measurement tools.
3. Model and render solar panels, structures, obstructions and shadows with attention to performance and usability.
4. Integrate the 3D canvas with our backend PV engine (geometry, energy estimates, code rules) via APIs.
5. Implement editing workflows: draw & edit polygons, drag/drop components, multi-select, undo/redo, keyboard shortcuts.
6. Optimize for performance on typical laptops and mid-range machines: LOD strategies, batching, culling, smart re-renders.
7. Work closely with product, design and backend engineers to translate real installer workflows into smooth UX.
8. Write clean, modular, well-tested frontend code and help shape our frontend architecture.
