About the Internship
Job Summary:We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Graphic Designer with a strong passion for visual storytelling to design captivating book covers across various genres. The ideal candidate has experience turning a manuscript's theme, tone, and target audience into visually compelling covers that attract readers and represent the essence of the book.
Key Responsibilities -
1. Creative Collaboration - Work closely with authors, editors, and marketers to understand the book’s theme, tone, and target audience. Align design with author branding and genre expectations.
2. Cover Design - Execution Design full book covers including front, spine, and back for both print and digital formats. Ensure visual cohesion and professional presentation.
3. Concept Development - Generate multiple design concepts per project and present options for review. Refine designs based on feedback to reach a final approved version.
4. Visual Elements - Selection Choose typography, imagery, and color palettes that reflect the story and genre. Maintain aesthetic balance and readability across all elements.
5. Technical Accuracy - Prepare files that meet printer specs like bleed, resolution, and format. Ensure compatibility with distribution platforms such as Amazon or IngramSpark.
6. Brand Consistency - Maintain visual consistency across an author’s works or book series. Apply recurring design motifs, fonts, and layouts to reinforce brand identity.
7. Trend Awareness - Stay updated on current publishing design trends and reader preferences. Adapt styles to remain fresh, competitive, and genre-relevant.
Job Requirements -
1. Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or a related field preferred. Equivalent professional experience is also accepted. Must have a strong portfolio showcasing book cover design or similar creative work.
2. Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite especially InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Solid understanding of typography, layout, and visual composition principles.
3. Ability to translate book themes and narratives into compelling visual designs. Must balance artistic creativity with commercial appeal and genre expectations.
4. Excellent communication skills for collaboration and feedback exchange. Strong time management to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects efficiently.
5. Understanding of printing processes and file preparation standards. Must know how to format files with correct resolution, bleed, and specifications for publishers and platforms.
