About the Internship
Own the API layer and backend services powering our apps. You’ll design clean, well-documented APIs, model data for scale, integrate external services securely, and keep the system reliable, observable, and fast. This is a hands-on role with a direct impact on product velocity and quality.Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilites include:
1. API Design & Delivery: Build REST endpoints with clear contracts, pagination, and robust error handling; maintain Open API docs.
2. Data Modeling: Design schemas and indexes; write performant SQL; manage migrations; apply basic normalization/denormalization.
3. Auth & Security: Implement JWT/OAuth flows, role-based access, input validation, rate limits, and secure secrets handling.
4. Integrations & Webhooks: Connect third-party services (e.g., payments, messaging); verify signatures; ensure idempotency and retries.
5. Reliability & Performance: Profile bottlenecks, add caching/queues, improve p95 latency, and build resilience (timeouts, circuit breakers).
6. Testing & CI/CD: Ship unit/integration tests, contract tests; maintain pipelines for linting, tests, builds, and deployments.
7. Observability: Instrument logs/metrics/traces; create dashboards and alerts; respond to incidents with clear runbooks.
8. Collaboration: Work closely with mobile/web, analytics, and design; estimate work, surface risks, and document decisions.
