Walking into a campus in Gujarat and hearing accents from Ghana, Poland, France, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam in the same corridor is thrilling. It's just another weekday at Parul University.

Globalisation is no longer simply a boardroom expression. From attending classes with students from other countries to spending a semester abroad and participating in joint research with visiting professors, it has become a way of life for the students. And, at Parul, that "global classroom" is no longer an aspirational illusion.

Through summer schools in Asia, semester exchanges in Europe, and cooperative research with universities on the other side of the world, we are ensuring that students can enter international contexts.

But how does a university in Vadodara manage to be a part of such an extensive and global web? Let's dissect.

A Passport to Learning: Exchange Programs that Go Beyond Travel

Studying abroad is not how many countries I can stop off at on my bucket list. It's about perspective, both academically, culturally and personally. Parul University's international partnerships aren't set up to get students on a plane. They're about getting students into real classrooms, on real projects, and having real conversations around the world.

The university has established partnerships with over 120 Universities in more than 50 countries, including Germany, Canada, South Korea, Poland, the UK, and many more. Through semester exchange programs, represented programs in engineering, management, healthcare, design, and more get to spend time studying at institutions internationally, without extending their graduation date.
And these are not one-sided stories. Just as Parul students are going out into the world, students from around the globe will also be coming in, further diversifying the classroom back home. It is a two-way global learning experience.

The Power of Partnerships

If you take a look at the university’s global roadmap, one thing remains certain: collaboration.

Parul University has connections with over 120 universities from countries like Germany, England, the USA, Poland, Italy, Canada, South Korea, and Australia. But these ties are not just logos on a website. Rather, they represent real, authentic opportunities for both students and faculty.

Here’s what we mean:

Semester Abroad Programs: Students will get to study at our partner institutions for a semester to experience a different education system and culture, along with, in many cases, a different professional environment.

Faculty Exchange & Joint Research: In addition to working with colleagues around the world, our faculty also welcomes scholars and researchers from abroad to work jointly on endeavors ranging from public health and sustainable development to artificial intelligence and robotics.

Summer and Winter Schools: Programs in South Korea, Italy, and Germany allow students to study global issues such as international business, design thinking, and climate policy in 2 to 4 weeks.

Scaling Global, Across Disciplines

Parul University has made a big commitment to developing its global and collaborative perspective, as evidenced by scale and types of international collaborations undertaken, which number over 120 universities in over 50 countries. These significant partnerships have led to student and faculty exchanges, joint research or collaborative research projects, dual degree programs, and global academic collaborations.

Some of the university’s prominent partners include:

  • Wenzhou University, China
  • Warsaw Management University, Poland
  • University of the West of England, UK
  • IAE Lyon School of Management, France
  • Nyenrode Business Universiteit, Netherlands
  • Ethiopian Civil Service University, Ethiopia
  • Hanyang University, South Korea
  • Bern University of Applied Science, Switzerland

Stories That Travel

Let's take a closer look at some of the stories that illustrate that these partnerships are not just on paper.
What's amazing is that these partnerships are not limited to one disciplinary area. They spread everywhere in engineering, business, healthcare, design, architecture, and applied sciences.
This means a medical student could spend a semester in Germany studying public health policy, whereas an architectural student might take part in a studio-based summer program in Italy.
And then, there are even instances where internationality does not require a passport. Via hybrid ways of learning, including online courses, collaborative projects, or visiting faculty, students are connected to global learning, often from the start of their programs.

Cultural Exchange as a Learning Tool

One of the less celebrated but equally powerful aspects of global education is the quiet learning that occurs via cultural exchange.

Whether it's sharing a meal, celebrating together, or simply getting to know each other’s slang, these experiences build connection, making students more empathetic, open, and flexible, which are all important skill sets for a global society.

This past year at Parul University, our students also discussed hosting their annual international festivals, where students from countries all over the globe display their music, food, customs, and art. What takes place at the festival is not just a festival, it is storytelling through their culture, In a world divided by borders, events like this remind us of what connects us.

Preparing for Global Careers

In today's working economy, employers are looking for more than paper qualifications. Specifically, they want individuals who can function well on a cross-cultural team, who are adaptable, and who can also bring new experiences from other perspectives. This type of skill and experience is developed through international collaborations.

Many students who take part in an international project or exchange program return with improved problem-solving skills, an enhanced view on foreign markets, and improved communication skills, all of which improve their employability.

Furthermore, many graduates are pursuing careers and higher education opportunities in places like the UK, Canada, Germany, and the USA, not because they have always wanted to go there but because their academic experience has allowed them to.

So, what is the Takeaway?

Attending a university whose learning expands international collaboration is like adding an extra lens to your degree to see beyond your syllabus, city or even country.

Parul University's global outreach is not about keeping up with trends, but to create actual networks of learning, innovation, and understanding that actually prepare learners to live and lead in a globalized world.

From Gujarat to global, is not only a tag line - it is a lived experience.
