Classification of plants into major groups; Features & examples of Algae, Bryophyta, Pteridophyta, Gymnospermae. (Excluded: Angiosperms, Plant Life Cycle, Alternation of Generations)

4. Animal Kingdom (Zoology)

Classification: Non-chordates up to phyla; Chordates up to class level; Salient features & examples. (No live animals/specimens to be displayed)

Unit II: Structural Organisation in Plants & Animals

5. Morphology of Flowering Plants (Botany)

Morphology of root, stem, leaf, inflorescence, flower, fruit & seed; Description of family Solanaceae.

6. Anatomy of Flowering Plants (Botany)

Anatomy & functions of tissue systems in dicots & monocots.

7. Structural Organisation in Animals (Zoology)

Morphology, anatomy & functions of digestive, circulatory, respiratory, nervous & reproductive systems of frog.

8. Cell: The Unit of Life (Botany)

Cell theory; Prokaryotic & eukaryotic cell structure; Plant vs animal cell; Cell envelope, membrane, wall; Cell organelles (ER, Golgi, lysosomes, vacuoles, mitochondria, ribosomes, plastids, microbodies, cytoskeleton, cilia, flagella, centrioles); Nucleus.
