Age required should be between 17 to 25 years for Diploma in Nautical Science

  • GP Rating – 18 to 25 years

Merchant Navy After 12th

You can join the Merchant navy in one of two departments: After completing 12th with PCM (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics).

Navigation Department

This department drives and navigates the ship. Courses to Become a Deck Officer / Captain If you wish to become a deck officer or a captain, you can choose either:

Nautical Science Diploma (DNS)
  • One year of theoretical training and then 1 year and 6 months of onboard training.

B.Sc in Nautical Science

B.Tech in Marine Engineering

Steps to join the Merchant Navy

Step 1: Verify the Eligibility Criteria

You should refer to the eligibility criteria for the course you want to apply for before applying.

Step 3: Prepare for the IMU-CET examination

You need to qualify for the IMU-CET (Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test) if you are getting inducted after class 12th (B.Tech, B.Sc, or DNS).
