After being allotted and confirming their seats through the JoSAA counselling process, students will be required to report to their allotted colleges by specific dates. It is very crucial for students to report at their allotted college within their allotted deadline, otherwise students may face a lot of trouble. During reporting students will have to undergo various logistical formalities such as completing any fee payments, hostel allotments, document processing and such.

After reporting to college, most IITs hold orientations before the commencement of classes.
