Frequently Asked Questions

How can I effectively prepare for JEE Main 2026 along with board exams?

Preparing for JEE Main 2026, especially alongside board exams, requires a smart and compact strategy. Start by creating an effective study plan that balances both. Prioritize covering all topics thoroughly from NCERT textbooks as they form a major portion of the exam. Avoid referring to too many external books to prevent confusion and maintain preparation pace. Most importantly, identify and seriously work on your weaker areas, as every mark counts. Consistent practice is key to developing a strong understanding.

Why are NCERT books crucial for JEE Main preparation?

NCERT books are extremely crucial for JEE Main preparation because a significant portion of the examination questions are directly based on these textbooks, according to past year trends. They lay a strong foundation by focusing on core concepts, which is essential for understanding advanced topics. It is highly recommended to thoroughly cover all topics from your NCERT books first before moving on to other reference materials. Many students ignore them, but they are your best starting point.

Should I refer to many books for JEE Main preparation?

It is generally not recommended to refer to too many books for JEE Main preparation. Doing so can easily lead to confusion, overwhelm you, and ultimately slow down your study pace. A smarter approach is to select a few high-quality books recommended by experienced teachers or mentors and complete them thoroughly. You can choose separate books for theory and practice if that helps. The key is deep understanding and extensive practice from a limited, well-chosen set of resources rather than superficial coverage of many.

How should I tackle my weaker areas for JEE Main?

You should never run away from your weaker areas when preparing for JEE Main. Instead, it is crucial to seriously work on them. Every student has some topics where they lack confidence or efficiency. Dedicate focused time to understand the concepts in these areas, practice relevant questions, and analyze your improvements regularly. You never know how much weightage a seemingly difficult topic might carry in the actual examination, so addressing them can significantly boost your overall score.

How will the JEE Main 2026 exam be conducted?

The JEE Main 2026 examination will be conducted entirely in online mode. Each candidate will be assigned a computer at the designated test centre. Questions will appear on the screen as multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Candidates must select the correct answer from the given options and then click the next button to move to the subsequent question. This online format requires familiarity with computer-based testing environments.

When is the ideal time to start preparing for JEE Main?

While the ideal time can vary, most successful candidates begin their JEE Main preparation during Class 11 or at the latest, the beginning of Class 12. This allows ample time to thoroughly cover the extensive syllabus, grasp complex concepts, and practice effectively. Starting early also helps in developing a strong foundation, managing the stress of board exams, and systematically addressing weaker areas without feeling rushed closer to the examination date.

What are some recommended books for JEE Main preparation?

For effective JEE Main preparation, a mix of standard books is recommended. For Physics, Concepts of Physics by H.C. Verma (Vol 1 & 2) and Fundamentals of Physics by Resnick and Halliday are popular. In Chemistry, NCERT books for theory, O.P. Tondon for IIT Chemistry, and J.D. Lee for Inorganic Chemistry are good choices. For Mathematics, R.D. Sharma for IIT Mathematics and books by Arihant Publications for specific topics like Algebra and Trigonometry are highly suggested by experts and toppers.
