His international educational experience and success include receiving the prestigious Robert Stable Alumni Medal, further consolidating his versatile contribution to education and sports.
One of the foundations of the university vision is the Centre of Excellence, which has been designed by leading UK architects Foster + Partners. The state-of-the-art building's Platinum LEED certification is a demonstration of Dr Vijay D Patil's focus on sustainability and technological advancements. Under the visionary leadership of Dr Vijay D Patil, the DY Patil Deemed to be University, Navi Mumbai, successfully organized the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) West Zone Vice Chancellors' Meet 2024-25. This prestigious effort by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) witnessed 132 Vice Chancellors from the West Zone states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Goa attending in person, while more than 100 Vice Chancellors attended virtually. The meet was themed 'Leadership & Governance in Higher Education' and was conducted on December 20-21, 2024, bringing together notable academic leaders, policymakers, and educators from across the region.
The prestigious AIU Moot Court Competition was conducted at the School of Law in the University by involving 48 Western Indian Universities. The competition bench for final consideration was a full bench constituted with the current Chairperson of DART, Justice Ashok Menon, serving as Chief Judge, in association with his public prosecutors, senior advocates for the Bombay High Court, and a single academician.
The University has had the privilege of hosting a range of notable legal personalities and industry leaders, such as Datuk Dr Sundara Rajoo, Chairman of SIAC, Singapore, Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice Bhushan Gavai, learned judges of the Supreme Court of India, Advocate Sangram Desai, Chairman of the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa, amongst others. Their visits have richly enriched the academic and intellectual environment of our campus.
Continuing its legacy of promoting excellence and innovation in academics, the university will be hosting Anveshan—a student research convention in January 2025. Hosted every year by the Association of Indian Universities, Anveshan seeks to discover and nurture young minds and promising researchers from Indian universities. With this convention hosted by DY Patil University, it reiterates its role as a driving force for innovative research and change, creating a space where students can present their ideas and make valuable contributions to the nation's development.

Ms Rajlakshmi Vijay Patil, this premium merchandise store sells a variety of products that reflect the essence of DY Patil University. The DYPU Shop is a point of sale for students, faculty, and guests to buy university-branded clothes and accessories, fostering a feeling of belongingness and pride. Ms Rajlakshmi Vijay Patil's efforts in building the university's identity through such activities show her commitment towards creating a vibrant and connected campus community.

Transforming Healthcare for the Community

The university transcends the sphere of studies itself, with Dr Vijay D Patil paving the way through unmatched development in healthcare too. The DY Patil Hospital and Research Centre, a 1,660-bed super-specialty charitable hospital accredited by NABH, is an example of his visionary philanthropy. Dedicated to providing quality and affordable care, the hospital has led numerous initiatives, including the Jeevan Dayi and Ayushman Bharat programs, which have benefited over 26,000 patients by reducing medical expenses.
One of the hospital's biggest achievements has been the launch of the CN Medical Assistance Cell by CM Shri Devendra Fadnavis, which has facilitated free heart surgeries in more than 100 children, which shows the institution's commitment to providing essential healthcare to the underprivileged. The hospital in the time of the Covid-19 pandemic was a beacon of hope, treating more than 50,000 patients and screening over 300,000 individuals in association with civic bodies such as NMMC, PMC, and Thane Corporation. These initiatives reflect the university's role towards solving the issues of healthcare on a community level.
One of his most prominent initiatives, the 'Dr. Vijay Patil Yojana', has extended healthcare services to more than 35,000 people, making it inclusive and accessible to the poor. Such revolutionary programs are a reflection of his complete approach to healthcare, based on compassion and innovation.
The University also possesses a 152-bed Ayurveda Hospital, the first NABH-accredited Ayurveda Hospital in the state. A holistic approach with yoga and naturopathy along with physiotherapy is adopted. The patients are given the medicines prepared in the pharmacy attached to the hospital.

Creation of the DY Patil Stadium and Sports Academy in 2008 is a career highlight of Dr Vijay D Patil's commitment to sport. Ranked amongst the world's top six cricket stadiums by the ICC, the stadium has organized high-profile games, such as IPL matches and FIFA tournaments, as well as concerts of music legends like Chris Martin (Coldplay), Justin Beiber, Katy Perry and Dua Lipa to list a few.
To complement the sporting activities of the university is the state-of-the-art Human High-Performance Centre under the School of Sports, Exercise and Nutrition Sciences. Fitted with high-tech equipment, this cutting-edge centre allows students to perform accurate cardiopulmonary graded exercise tests and submaximal tests, creating a new world standard for sports science education in India. The center acts as a cornerstone to help academic research create a platform on which students attain practical, experiential-based knowledge in the field of sports science.
Apart from event organization, sports development is the university's contribution to a higher extent. Bharat Ratna Shri Sachin Tendulkar's collaboration with DY Patil Sports Academy led to the formation of the SRT 10 Global Cricket Academy, which served as a nursery ground for young talents and promoted holistic development. The Vice President and President of the Mumbai Cricket Association, Dr Vijay D Patil, also furthered the sports culture of the university with the advantages benefiting students in vast numbers.

Proof of this was the grand 98th birthday celebration of Pramukh Swami Maharaj in 2019, which was attended by more than 60,000 devotees. Dr Vijay D. Patil's spiritual humility, shaped by the teachings of Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj and ingrained values developed through his parents, Padmashree awardee Dr DY Patil and Smt. Pushpalata D.
