The Karnataka School Education Department has started online applications for the Karnataka Teacher Eligibility Test (KARTET) 2025 . This exam is for people who want to become teachers in primary schools (Classes 1-5) and upper primary schools (Classes 6-8) across Karnataka. KARTET 2025 will happen on December 7, 2025 , as an offline exam.
If you wish to apply, you can do so from October 23, 2025 , to November 9, 2025 . The exam will be held in two parts on the same day. Paper I is from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM , and Paper II is from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM .
A big update for KARTET is that the certificate you get after passing is now valid for your whole life. This means you only need to clear the exam once to be eligible for teaching jobs for your entire career. This rule follows guidelines from the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

Who Can Apply (Eligibility Criteria)?
To take the KARTET 2025 exam, you need to meet certain education requirements. There is no age limit for applying.
For Paper I (Teaching Classes 1-5):
- You must have passed Class 12 with at least 50% marks .
- You also need a 2-year D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education) or a similar diploma course.
For Paper II (Teaching Classes 6-8):
- You must have a college degree with at least 50% marks .
- You also need a B.Ed (Bachelor of Education) or D.El.Ed degree, or a similar education course.
Students from reserved categories ( SC, ST, OBC, PwD ) get a 5% relaxation in the minimum marks needed. This means they can apply with 45% marks instead of 50%.
